| Tony Head. Tony FUCKING Head. Ogre. Yes, THAT Ogre.
"Repo: The Genetic Musical" ( Trailer behind the cut from YouTube )
Listening to the music in the trailer, I wonder if Ogre had a hand in the musical direction? There seem to be some late Puppy-ish influences there, maybe... | comments: Leave a comment |

| | However, for only 8 weeks. it's a PHP gig, and it sounds like pretty simple stuff - developing web forms to insert into a MySQL database. But my team will have to do the lot - design the DB and the forms - so that will be fun. And I'm going to try and teach them the wonders of Smarty. Which I'm not completely in love with, but it's pretty good. | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
| Last night I drank far too much at featherynscale's & kaymyth's party. This was not an accomplishment. Today I spent the day sick as a dog, and I won't say more than that. Again, not an accomplishment. The accomplishments in question?
I managed to get several glasses of water to go through my body in the "proper direction", as it were. I also managed to keep down two bananas, a ramekin of applesauce, and two cups of cooked brown rice with butter, salt, and pepper. This last is more of a provisional accomplishment, as i've just eaten it, and there's still time for it to come back. *crosses fingers* | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |

I grew up eating horseshoe sandwiches. Now, as a rule, the horseshoes I had were sauced with whatever generic cheddar cheese sauce the restaurant had, and I don't think I ever had one in Springfield. Which is a pity, because I used to spend a lot of time in Springfield.
And there's this "Cue Shoe" you can supposedly get at a place in Urbana, Dammit. I lived in Shampoo-Banana for 5 years, and I never heard of this thing. | comments: Leave a comment |
| That the Perl operator <=> is informally referred to as "the spaceship operator." Neat! | comments: Leave a comment |
| I am unemployed again. Virtumundo (now Indigo Interactive) terminated my contract yesterday. Now, I wouldn't have had so much of a problem with that if they had given me some notice. Instead I had to hear it secondhand from a co-worker who (and I don't blame him for this) assumed I already knew. So after I confirmed (and that took way too long) I finished out my day, packed up my things, and went home. I don't have another gig lined up yet, but I'm going to call the guy who got me the gig at Virtumundo and see what he can do for me.
In the meantime I'm going to get some reference letters together and try and get into substitute teaching with the KC school district.
I'm also going to write up a business plan for Inksome and try and get financing, or VC money. I think Inksome can distinguish itself from the sea of LJ clones, if I can just get the money to do it. | comments: Leave a comment |
| I was just thinking that Inksome offers a metric assload of userpics (150(!) for free users) and I think that's a fair amount of server load. I don't know what the LJ code does to optimize this at all, but what if, on Inksome, I were to do something such that if two people had the same userpic, that pic would only be stored once in the DB.
thinking about it a little more, though, I'm not sure how much good that would do. :) | comments: Leave a comment |

| I was going to have to write a bunch of copy/pasted methods for this work thing, and I didn't wanna. With this, I can do it somewhat minimally.
( code behind the cut )
ETA: Even more minimally! I can define a bunch of methods from a qw//. | comments: Leave a comment |
